Fall Festival 2017

Since I am doing all things PTA this year, I got to help a lot with Fall Festival. We are raising money to purchase a sun shade for the elementary school playground. I helped organize live entertainment for the event-- which included Maisy's cheer squad and Afton's dance team of course!

Afton also volunteered, she and some friends did face painting. I am so happy to see her getting involved with serving others.

The event was a huge success!

Pumpkins 2017!

We switched things up this year and bought our pumpkins from the grocery store instead of the farm. The prices were better, but the scenery was a little lacking :)

We had fun carving them.

And of course, we thought that waiting til the week before Halloween would give us enough time to enjoy before they rotted. But they didn't even make it til Oct. 31st. Dang Texas weather!

We also made a trip out to the Hall's Pumpkin Farm. The girls love this tradition. So I sat in the sun and ate popcorn while they ran around.

That night we sang Happy Birthday to Jeff, because it was his 'real birthday'. I think he was kind over it. Lol.

Maisy's 2nd grade Field Trip

Maisy's 2nd grade class took a trip to Nash Farm! I met her there and got to join along in the fun.

First up, they washed clothes by hand. Old school style ;)

Then they visited with the farm animals.

Played some games.

Took a class picture.

Rolled down a grassy hill.

And got locked up in the sheep pen.

We had a curious farm-hand guide us through the adventures.

The kids got to use an old fashioned view finder.

And even churn butter. (Which they got to eat on crackers. )

Other fun happenings at school recently have included twin day! With her bestie Addison.

And creating a book character pumpkin. Maisy loves Captain Underpants!

So thankful I get to be a part of all her fun at school!

Jeff turns 41

Another year, another great excuse to go on a trip. Happy 41st birthday to the guy who does it all! Jeff chose to hike again this year for his birthday. We flew to Las Vegas super early in the morning and then began hiking in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The park was so beautiful, full of boulders, red swirly rocks and lots of trails. We made our own way for a good two hours. It was fun scrambling around, seeing how we could climb up and then trying to find our way back down.

Next we decided to try the Calico Tanks Trail. It was a good hike that lead us up to a peak that over-looked the Vegas Strip. Such a cool view.

After our hiking we checked into the Cosmo. I loved how swanky this hotel felt. We spent the next few days eating, drinking and people watching. We went two shows- A Cirque de Solei performance and the Michael Jackson One show. We swam, went to a dance club, and played Top Golf too. It was a fun trip!

While we were gone, Grammy held down the fort. She got the girls to and from school and all their activities. Plus managed to get in a playdate with the cousins too! It was a great weekend for all.
