Note to Self

Note to self: You know when it's January and you are cold and bored. So you sign your kids up for a bunch of sports. Well just remember that it will eventually be spring and hot and sunny. And you might not want to go to all those things you signed up to do. But you will have to do it anyway. Just remember that ;)

Thank goodness for fun husbands, patios with fires and light night wine chats!

And church and Jesus. Especially Jesus.

Talent Show 2018- Go Maisy!

Maisy performed in two numbers at the school Talent Show. She did a cheer routine with her MP squad and then a ballet performance with some dance friends. So thankful for her sweet friendships and our supportive school community.

Back to Reality

The week after Spring Break, every day felt like a Monday. We just really prefer to be on vacation as opposed to getting up early and going to school. Ha!

Oh well! Only 9 Mondays left til school is out for the summer.
Spring Fever has definitely set in around here.

Spring Break 2018-- Ski Trip!

I kept a FB journal of our trip to Idaho, so I am using that as my blog post about this trip :)

Good morning Idaho!!! We got in late last night, so waking up to a winter wonderland was kind of magical. Today Jeff will be hitting the slopes with friends. And the Conner Girls are geared up for a day of ski lessons. Wish us luck! (I haven’t skied since I was in middle school and this is the girls’ first time.)

Day 1 - beautiful weather and no one complained about being cold (including me!). We spent the day with our ski instructor Yugi. He was patient and kind. Said skiing is a ‘sport of gravity’. Lots of practice on the bunny hill. Jeff was high up on the mountain most of the day with our friends. Going to have the girls do another short session with Yugi on day 2 and then hopefully they can keep me company on the greens. McCall is a great place to learn to ski. Not crowded and very laid back.

Day 2- Afton ended up skipping ski lessons & doing greens with me all day. I am a very “controlled” skier (aka ‘slow 😜) so we were a good pair. She liked having to wait for me at the bottom of the hills. Maisy worked with Yugi again and attempted her first green. She is very determined, and we are so proud of her! Jeff was all over the mountain . We ended the day at “Toll Station Pizza” with friends. #connerfamspringbreak18 @ Brundage Mountain Resort

Day 3- wow! We rode 84 miles on snowmobiles today. We left at 9am and finished at 5pm. I have never driven a snowmobile before and I was terrified all day! We meandered through the Payette Forest, took a steep trip up to a granite peak, rode out to Secesh Stage Stop and hung a few dollar bills on the ceiling, went to Warren (population 16) for lunch, then rode back to Burgdorf Hot Springs for a swim. Along our journey, the girls met 3 goats, 2 dogs and 1 cat. Breathtaking views and spectacular scenery. We ended the day with the girls sledding on a hill near our condo while Jeff and I cooked family dinner. Idaho is pretty awesome. #connerfamspringbreak18

Day 4- “I won’t ruin a good story with the absolute truth.” 😜 The morning started out with lots of fresh snow. We got to the mountain and decided the four of us would do a few greens together. Sometimes when you ski with a little kid, there are tears. Maybe one parent gets frustrated with the other parent. And then that one kid will need a 2 hour break and hot chocolate, while the other parent goes and skis the big runs. Sometimes the chair lift on those big runs can smack a person ‘head first’ into the ground - and that is when you are thankful people wear helmets to ski these days. If you are lucky, you can get that tearful kid to try the greens again. And although you might just have to sing “Bingo” loud enough for everyone on the mountain to hear, you do it because for some weird reason it helps your little kid ski. At the end of the day, you leave the mountain cold, wet, tired —and really, really thankful for helmets. And your kids are smiley and somehow not at all tired and so they go back outside to have a snowball fight. Sometimes that happens.
Then we went to dinner. The end 😜

Day 5- “Always try everything at least twice.” Today was a good day. For me and the girls- there were no tears, lots of greens, and no falls. What would I do without my sweet girls???!! Jeff did all the big runs with friends and no one got hurt. Yay! 🙌🏻 It snowed a ton and was super cold - but we skied the whole day. We finished the day with sledding at the condo and then yummy pizza at Crusty’s. As a sun-loving Texan, I can happily say I loved this entire trip. Snow can be fun!! (PS- Maisy’s souvenir was a stuffed wolf, she named him ‘Bingo’ 😂🐶🎶)

Day 6 Leaving McCall - no one wants Spring Break to end! We’ll drive to Boise and spend the night, then catch a 7am flight back to TX. The drive from McCall to Boise was so beautiful! We got into the city and had lunch at @evenstevenssandwiches (sooooo good!) then walked the @freakalleygallery. We visited the infamous blue turf at @boisestateuniversity too. Rain came through, so the girls spent the afternoon in the hotel pool. (Kids ❤️ hotel pools! 😂) For dinner, we were all tired & missing ‘home food’ so we found a Costa Vida (we’re so #basic 😜). Wrapping up our Friday night in the hotel room watching basketball in our jammies ☺️☺️#connerfamspringbreak18 @ Boise, Idaho

And since it was only 12 noon when we got home... we took the boat out! Squeezing in a little more fun before Spring Break is done. Started the day in Idaho, ending it on Grapevine Lake. #connerfamspringbreak18

It was an awesome Spring Break!
