Easter 2018

Easter weekend was the same weekend as Afton's birthday party, so it was a busy weekend! That Thursday, Maisy had me bring IHOP up to school- in honor of Easter. He traveled in his 'bunny bonding bag' of course :) The kids loved him!

On Good Friday, we spent the day playing with Grammy and Sadie. Grammy made a beautiful 'Easter lunch' for us. We had so much fun at her house. Sadie seemed to enjoy Maisy :)

That afternoon, we took the boat out on the lake. The girls (and Jeff) were so brave to get in!

That night we had the Ashmore's over for some Easter fun. The girls dyed eggs, we grilled out and then we made Peep S'mores. So yummy!

On Easter morning, the girls were up bright and early. This year the bunny set out filled Easter baskets and hid 48 Easter Eggs in the front yard. So exciting!

We went to church with Grammy and Gramps, then had lunch at the Black Walnut Cafe. That evening, we did our traditional Easter meal-- chicken tenders from Chicken Express, with salad, biscuits and mashed potatoes :) It was a great Easter!

Afton Turns 12

Afton is now 12 years old! Still a 'tween' thank goodness, not a full blown teen :) She is a good, kind kid. She loves her family, is silly and wants to do her best. She loves slime, glitter, basketball, cheer, volleyball, crafts, pretzel m&m's, snickers, grilled cheese sandwiches, and Arnold Palmers. She is giggly and thoughtful. She is even-tempered and easy-going. We are so thankful for her.

Her birthday fell in the middle of the week this year. So we didn't celebrate big until the weekend. The day before her birthday, I did get to go on a field trip with her to the Amon Carter Art Museum. Which ended with a trip to the food court at the Northeast Mall. Middle school kids have all the luck these days.

On her actual birthday, we kicked off the day with birthday cinnamon rolls and a few presents. Jeff had to go out of town. But he was there for the 'first thing in the morning' celebration. Afton was delighted to find her friends had filled her locker with candy. I dropped off lunch for her- no mommas in the middle school cafeteria!- and they all sang happy birthday. So sweet.

That afternoon, Maisy had tutoring with Ms. Pat and the girls got to make a surprise craft- a Peep in a Car! So cute! I made dinner for the girls at home that night and we ended the 'official' birthday with a slice of cake from Celebrity.

The day after her birthday, she met cheer friends up at McCallister's for a fund raiser. I am so excited for her to be on a cheer team again.

That Saturday, we finally got to celebrate Afton in a BIG way! She invited15 friends to Main Event- they bowled, played laser tag, ate pizza and cake, and finished the night with games. I was so happy she was surrounded by so many good friends.

When we got home, Maisy ran upstairs and changed. Then she came down and performed a beautiful dance for Afton as her present. Does it get any cuter than this???!

Happy Birthday Afton! WE LOVE YOU!
