January Fun

This month went by pretty quickly thanks to some good weather, not too much school, pets, and lots of sports.

We got our hopes up, several times, for snow. But it just didn't happen. It has been cold enough to freeze, so maybe the mosquitos won't be as bad this summer?

Maisy has been crazy over IHOP. She is doing a great job taking care of him and giving him lots of love.

We visited Grammy one day and her met her new puppy, Sadie! The girls had so much fun chasing her around and snuggling her.

Jeff and I got a date night that evening- we went on a looooooong walk and then out for dinner and drinks.

The girls spent the night with Mimi and Analeigh & Emmy.

Afton has continued with basketball. She really likes playing and her team has improved so much. (Maisy and I love to support Afton... and entertain ourselves as well!)

Afton's World Cultures teacher invited parents to come to class one day. (I was the only one who took her up on the offer! Lol). I think the fact that I offered to bring Chick-Fil-A helped persuade Afton :)

She has done so well in middle school. She has been on the A-B Honor Roll all year.  Such a responsible student!

Maisy has been working hard in school too. She is in the first year of the MTA program. Her dyslexia class meets 4-5 days a week for 45 minutes. She has learned so much and always gives 110 percent. She will be in the dyslexia program at school for around 2.5 years.

Afton picked up a new sport too- soccer! Who knew she would love it?! Her friends have been asking her every year to play, but the timing has never worked out. This semester it did. Yay for new adventures.

I am happy to report that as we close down January, both girls are healthy and happy. God is so good.

Stock Show 2017

When you live in Texas... you go to the Stock Show!

We ate nachos, french fries, burgers, chicken strips, funnel cake and had a few cold beers :)

Then we visited all the animals.

Of course our favorite were the bunnies-- there are SO many different breeds.

This one a Holland Lop like our IHOP.

This is a HUGE bunny- it's a type of lop too.

Mr. Dave- who gave us IHOP- was there with his fuzzy lops. One of them won 2nd place! Maisy enjoyed meeting Mr. Dave and getting to hold his prize winning rabbit.

Afton thought there were way too many cows. Ha!

Next, we hit the Midway. It was a beautiful day outside!

Jeff and I had fun too!

Yee Haw!

Daddy Daughter Dance 2017

Ahhh it's that time of year again... the infamous Daddy Daughter Dance. Put on your best dress and suit/tie and go dance!

Maisy wanted a long dress, a low bun, and one curly tendril hanging by her face. So dramatic!

Afton insisted that I didn't need to buy her a new dress, she could just wear something she already had. Her only request was that I buy her a 'straightner' for her hair. (I bought her a new dress and the straightner!)

Lots of Afton's friends from school were there-- such a sweet bunch of 6th graders!

And of course Maisy had a wild group to dance with.

The moms went to Rio Mambo since we weren't allowed at the dance.

A good time was had by all!
