Swim Team

This was our first summer to do Swim Team. Afton has always been a little fish. So I figured this would be a great way for her to get some exercise, do a team sport, and stay busy while school is out. She joined the Timarron Tiger Sharks with a few friends from church.

For 7 weeks, she trained and trained. Practices were an hour every Mon, Tues, Thurs and Friday. On Wednesdays she competed in swim meets. She learned proper form for back stroke, free style, butterfly and breast stroke.

While Afton swam, Maisy swam on the steps with her friends. Sometimes I got in too.

The last two weeks of team, Maisy took swim lessons from Coach Murphy. Her lessons will held right after practice. She is not swimming independently yet, but she learned a lot. I think Coach Murphy must be an angel-- I have never seen a man so patient with precocious three-year old!

The swim meets were fun. It is exciting to watch the kids compete. I helped out on the deck with a few other moms. We got the kids organized for each race and into the correct lanes. (Which is no small feat!)

At the end of the season, the team celebrated with a pool party.

I loved the family atmosphere of swim team, we will be signing up again next year!

Fourth of July 2013

The Fourth of July party lasted several days this year.

On the Third of July, the girls and I joined some church friends for a day at Hawaiian Falls.

That night we headed to Town Square. Lots of friends, dinner out, games, and then fireworks.

AND Guess who finally watched fireworks, without covering her ears??!

BOOM!
On the actual 4th of July, we spent the day swimming at Grandpa's house and then drove over to watch the Grapevine fireworks from a far.

We wrapped up the weekend with a movie date to see Despicable Me 2.

And then we enjoyed swimming and dinner with our friends the Woods.

Celebrating Independence Day for 4 days-- pretty nice and exhausting :)
