Valentines weekend started off pretty uneventful. The meteorologists were calling for a chance of snow (in Texas?? yeah right!) and record low temps.
So we brought the rabbits in and went about our usual Friday routine.
Dinner out and watching a movie.
On Saturday, Afton had some friends over to celebrate Galentines.
Tik Tok tells teenage girls that cutting a cake with champagne flutes is cool. So here are... lol.
Jeff and I had a romantic little Valentines date in our dining room. Coal Vines... mmmmm.
When the parents picked up their girls that night, we all talked about the chance of snow. Would it really happen? It NEVER snows in Texas.
The next morning, we were all excited to see that "YES-it snowed!!".
While the snow continued to fall, we went to a 'Valentines' breakfast.
After breakfast, we bundled up to go for a snow walk. It was so beautiful and fun to see snow in our town!! What a delight.
That evening, we hosted Maisy's Valentine celebration. Due to COVID- there were no Valentines parties in elementary school this year. So we just had our own party! Maisy's friends brought over Valenines, decorated boxes and treats to exchange. The girls played in the snow, sat in the hot tub and had a sleepover.
That night, our fire alarms all went crazy. Jeff ran around the house trying to turn them off without waking all the girls. The power flickered on and off. And at 3am- it turned off. And did not come back on. The girls woke up early. Cold. I called their parents to pick them up. We had no power and the outside temperature was in teens.
Our internet was spotty, but we were hearing from friends that many of them had not lost power or those who had- were experiencing rolling blackouts. Which only left them with small periods of power loss. Ours was constant and steady. No power.
