When we bought the boat back in the spring, Jeff immediately booked a cabin for us on Lake LBJ for a week. We thought it would be fun to take the boat on a 'road trip' and live at the lake for a bit. Here is a diary of our week.
Day 1: July 1st: Jeff and I got up early to power walk😜, practice yoga, pack the car and drive the boat/girls to the cutest log house in Horseshoe Bay! (PS- Boat on a trailer = long drive + extra stress--- but worth it.) When we arrived, the girls immediately made friends with the ALL the deer, then paddle boarded, boated, swam, grilled out burgers and did fireworks. We found out that the 'boat slip' that was included with cabin would barely fit a jet ski, let alone a boat. So we came to terms that we would be trailering the boat for 5 days in a row. Deep breath.
Day 2: July 2: I got up early and went on a run. Then we mastered the boat ramp and killed it on the lake. It was a great day for boating, paddle boarding, chicken kabobs, ‘oh deer’ adventures, smores and more sparklers. 💓
Day 3: July 3rd: Today's morning activity--- paddle board date! Then Jeff & Afton made chocolate chip pancakes. The rest of the day was spent boating, tubing, and wake boarding. We drove into Marble Falls for Pizza Hut then came home for some sunset fishing.
Day 4: July 4: Happy 4th of July! We put on all our ‘red, white and blue’ and went to the Horseshoe Bay Parade. Vintage cars and decorated golf carts- so cute! Then we spent a few hours out on the lake before the torrential rain moved in (and brought us a turtle). It rained so much here this afternoon/evening! (We got to clean the boat! Lol. Note to self: bring the cover next time.) But right after dinner (homemade nachos🙌🏻) and the weather finally cleared up. So we chased around an armadillo, fed the deer (again) and then did some ‘pops’ and sparklers while watching the big HSB fireworks through the trees. Only 3 out of 4 Conner’s like the ‘big boom’ of fireworks- poor Maisy !!
Day 5: July 5th The last day. We added this one in on a whim, and I am glad we did! The weather on the fourth of July, combined with the heavy down pour from the tree and the clouds into our boat, made for a wonky day. So this 'add on' day was our chance for 'do-over'. I cleaned the boat before we went out that day and we all were excited to have a fresh boat and sunshine!
We got up the next morning and drove home, put the boat in it's storage unit, and did some laundry. We were all exhausted but happy. I think one day... we might have a lake house.
