Memorial Day 2016

On Memorial Day we searched and searched for a fun parade or something patriotic to do with the girls. This is where we ended up...

Scarborough Fair in Waxahachie! We didn't even tell them where we were going-- just told them it was a surprise.

And boy were they surprised. Elephants, rides, magic, sword fighting, great people watching. They even did a Memorial Day parade through the little town square.

Afterwards we came home and did a little swimming/grilling out.

It was a good Memorial Day. God Bless those who keep us safe so we can enjoy more days just like this one.

Wax Museum & Field Day & the Colonial

No rest for the weary... and no short of 'fun' around here last week! Afton was part of the annual 4th grade Wax Museum. She was Princess Diana. She researched, wrote and then memorized a 90 second speech. Which she delivered about 30 times!

A few days later was Field Day. Best day ever for a kid. This was Maisy's first field day- and she loved it. A little rain can't keep this group down :)

The next day-- it was the adult's turn for fun! The kiddos went off with grandparents and Jeff took me to the Colonial. We used to go all the time "pre-kids" and it was great to go back again. Just like the old days.

And we ended the day at my favorite place- Joe T's!! Such a great way to celebrate turning 36!

Maisy's Ballet Recital 2016

Maisy has danced at the MA Ballet School for the entire school year. On Sunday, her class performed a class at the the school's Spring Recital. The ballet instruction there cannot be beat. It is simply beautiful Russian dancing. The recital was held at TCU-- which made it feel even more special!

Clearly this child has a flair for the dramatic arts!  These poses are all her own doing.

She performed beautifully at the recital. It was so fun to watch. I think she has lots of years of dancing ahead of her.

End of Year Fun

The night before we left for camp, Afton's art work was selected for the district art show. They only feature two pieces per grade level, so she was honored that they chose her!

And while we were at Camp Carter, Maisy had her "End of Year Celebration". Jeff went and took photos and video. Maisy presented the "Eric Carle" style book she wrote. She has learned so much this year!

To wrap up the weekend, we went to Main Street Days with friends. It was fun!

Oh and I turned a year older. Boo. I feel and look older. Boo. (Guess it's better than the alternative! And thank goodness for these sweet friends who treated me to lunch and made my birthday happy. )
