Happy Halloween!

We had our annual Halloween party- friends, family and neighbors joined us for some trick-or-treating.  Lots of yummy food and great company.

Afton was Ariel- red hair and all. Maisy was a round pumpkin. Both my girls had a lot of fun!

 Happy Halloween!!!

Twelve Months...

Maisy has been 12 months for almost three weeks now. Her new tubes have helped a bit with the sleeping, but now teething seems to be waking us up. She has really not slept through the night for more than 2-3 nights in a row. Thus I have not slept "well" in 12 months... which is why I am now a coffee drinker :)

Right now, her sweet smile consists of 3 teeth. Two bottoms and a side top.

Have no fear- more pearly whites are on the way. It appears that she is cutting 3 at one time- the two middles and the other side. Lord help us!

Here are Maisy's stats for 12 months
weight- 20 pounds (31st percentile)
height-30 inches (78th percentile)
head-46 cm (76th percentile)
* So still "tall" and "skinny" with a big noggin!

She is totally off the bottle and is now a better eater. Breakfast is her favorite- pancakes and eggs! Maisy's eating habits are interesting to me. Afton was not at all picky. But Maisy has a very specific palate. For example-  she will try anything with ketchup, but will only lick the ketchup off that food item. She can sign 'crackers' and so she requests them at every meal. And if she doesn't want to eat something, she will shake her head back and forth- 'no,no,no' at me.

Whenever the tv is turned on, she signs 'baby'- her way of asking for "Baby Signing Time". So cute. Her strong opinions are funny, delightful and also a bit scary :)

So far it has been an easy week with Afton. (That's how my girls do it- taking turns- so as not to overwhelm their momma.) She is excited about Halloween, collecting fall leaves, and trying to make garden snails into household pets. I LOVE that girl!

And today is Jeff's birthday! So happy birthday to our favorite guy. We are blessed to have Jeff as a Daddy and husband.  When I think of three words to describe him I would say is happy, helpful and hard working.
Thank you for all you do- I hope you know how much we appreciate you! I love you.

Butterfly Flutterby 2010

We participated in the Grapevine Butterfly Flutterby again this year. Each October the children of Grapevine parade down Main Street to celebrate the monarch butterfly's migration south for the winter. Grapevine is along the monarch's migratory path so we have seen a lot more butterflies than usual lately.

On Saturday morning- I saw two more.
I have always wanted to make a tutu-dress for Afton, so this seemed like the perfect occasion! The wings were store bought- we just added a little extra bling.
The make-up and Afton's imagination completed the 'butterfly look'- she flittered and fluttered all over Grapevine.
Maisy's costume was a combination of Halloween and butterfly. (I wanted her to get some extra use from her outfit!) My friend Val made this adorable "Boo onesie" for Maisy's birthday. So I just had to make her a Halloween tutu and coordinating Halloween baby legs.  To tie in with the butterfly theme- I added the monarch butterflies to her headband!

We met up with our friends- who of course got into the spirit of the Flutterby too!

What in the world are these girls going to wear next year?!

Pumpkins and Cowgirls

What a weekend! We kicked it off with a visit to Hall's Pumpkin Patch. We drive by the farm everyday on our way to school and such. In September we saw the farmers plant the corn and since then we have watched that corn grow. Afton was more than ready to run through that corn maze!

It was such a beautiful afternoon- the girls had a blast checking out the pumpkins and the animals.

Lots of opportunities for photos!

Sunday was Maisy's "Vintage Cowgirl" Party.

So many friends and family came over to help us celebrate our sweet Maisy Lou.

Maisy seemed to enjoy the entire party- especially the cupcake.

She knew just what to do!

Maisy got a ton of adorable clothes and fun toys. One of her favorite's is the shopping cart (pottery barn of course- the girl has good taste!) She is now zooming around the driveway with her babies. I think she enjoys the freedom!

Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes and your kindness. We love you all!
